Senior Analyst, Middle East
Nathan Thrall is a Senior Analyst with the Middle East Program of the International Crisis Group covering Gaza, Israel, Jordan and the West Bank. He has written on American foreign policy, the Arab uprisings, Fatah, Hamas, Hizbollah, Iran, Israel, Palestinian politics, the peace process, and Salafi-Jihadi groups. His writing has appeared in Arabic in Al- Hayat, Asharq al-Awsat, and Al-Quds al-Arabi, and in English in Foreign Affairs, GQ, The London Review of Books, The New Republic, The New York Review of Books, and The New York Times. A contributing editor at Tablet Magazine and a former member of the editorial staff of The New York Review of Books, he appears frequently in print and broadcast media, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Financial Times, Al-Jazeera, the BBC, Democracy Now!, NPR, and CNN. He received a BA from the College of Creative Studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MA in politics from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University. He lives in Jerusalem.
