From offices in Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan and Dushanbe in Tajikistan, Crisis Group covers the five Central Asian states – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – focusing on the region’s main security challenges: drug smuggling, border and resource disputes, corruption, extremism and heavy-handed repression of opponents.
