Amid escalating violence and brutality, the prospects for a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict seem further away than ever. Yet Crisis Group believes that a durable political settlement remains within grasp if the international community is prepared to actively and decisively promote the historic compromises required to attain this objective. Crisis Group proposed a detailed formula for a peace agreement in 2002 to this end, and has strongly supported informal Israeli-Palestinian initiatives that have sought to resolve the conflict's core issues. Crisis Group's publications on various political initiatives and Israeli and Palestinian political dynamics  focus on how such issues are best addressed in the context of promoting an as yet elusive peace settlement.
