Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin informed President Ashraf Ghani that “the U.S. is reducing our civilian footprint in Kabul in light of the evolving security situation”. Blinken and Austin asserted “that the U.S. remains committed to maintaining a strong diplomatic and security relationship… [and] support a political solution to the conflict”.
