Discussing the U.S.-Taliban agreement, CENTCOM Commander Kenneth McKenzie asserted that “we need to be assured that ISIS and al-Qaeda do not have the opportunity to be hosted in Afghanistan and develop attacks against the West. Right now it is simply unclear to me that the Taliban has taken any positive steps in that, in those areas… I think we’re coming up with a pretty important time with this process”.
