Saudi Arabia’s deputy defence minister met U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Washington and discussed, inter alia, “the U.S. commitment to help Saudi Arabia defend its territory as it faces attacks from Iranian-aligned groups”. He also spoke with a senior defence official about “efforts to end the war in Yemen and the shared U.S.-Saudi commitment to counter Iran’s destabilising activities”; the Pentagon official “noted the need to work together on addressing the proliferation and dangers of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles”. The next day the Saudi deputy defence minister met with Secretary of State Blinken and other senior U.S. diplomats.
