Commenting on Israeli strikes against Iranian and Iran-linked targets in Syria, Iran's foreign minister, Javad Zarif, stated that "Iran is in Syria to fight terrorism and extremism and help stabilise the situation. That we are not there to fight others, but we've said all the time that we defend ourselves. And we believe that people should avoid provoking".
