The U.S. special representative for Iran, Brian Hook, stated that "Iran threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz again. The Islamic Republic of Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. The strait is an international waterway. The U.S. will continue to work with our partners to ensure frequent navigation and the free flow of commerce in international waterways".
