Prime Minister al-Kadhimi met with a U.S. delegation led by the White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk. A statement from the premier’s office said that “mechanisms for the withdrawal of combat forces from Iraq and the transition to a new phase of strategic cooperation that develops the relationship between the two countries and enhances Iraq’s security and sovereignty were discussed”.
