U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “reaffirmed the important role of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS” in a conversation with Iraqi President Barham Salih, and the two “agreed on the need to reduce tensions in the region”. A readout from Salih’s office additionally indicated that Pompeo and Salih “underlined the requirement for all to act with restraint, called for the policy of appeasements to give space for a constructive dialogue in dealing with the crises and de-escalating the situation”.
