An Iraqi government official asserted that U.S. sanctions against Iran "will influence, first of all, money transfers and banking operations in the U.S. dollar. The sides [Iran and Iraq] will not use the U.S. dollar". He added that "the government will seek to solve all the problems related to this issue, it will look for corresponding mechanisms to neutralise the [sanctions' ] influence on the Iraqi market and also prevent the damage cause to the Iraqi citizens' interests".
