The U.S. and Israeli national security advisors convened the U.S.-Israel Strategic Consultative Group. According to a U.S. readout, “the two sides shared perspectives on regional security issues of mutual interest and concern, including Iran, and expressed their common determination to confront the challenges and threats facing the region”. The White House asserted that “it’s vital to the President and to the administration that as as we are looking ahead to approaching diplomacy and moving toward… a diplomatic track to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, that Israel will be a continued partner, will be regularly briefed”. “We’re not looking to delay the diplomatic process [with Iran]. We are… looking to hear back from the Iranians and work closely with our Europeans on the process”, a spokesperson added.
