President Biden, discussing the war between Israel and Gaza, remarked that the U.S. was “surging additional military assistance to the Israeli Defence Force… we have moved a U.S. Carrier fleet to the Eastern Mediterranean, and we’re sending more fighter jets there into that region and made it clear to the Iranians, ‘Be careful’”. “My commitment to Israel’s security and the safety of the Jewish people is unshakeable”, he emphasised. The following day, Secretary Blinken visited Israel and underscored Biden’s warning: “To any adversary – state or non-state – thinking of taking advantage of the current crisis to attack Israel:  Don’t. The U.S. has Israel’s back”.
