Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi told his British counterpart that “Iran poses a threat to stability and peace in the Middle East and around the world and the lifting of the [UN] arms embargo will lead to Iran accelerating its re-armament. We were disappointed to see the E3 vote against extending the arms embargo on Iran in the UN Security Council... There is still time to change direction”. In a separate meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu urged the UK to “join the American sanctions in order to prevent Iran from arming itself with lethal weapons or to advance towards a nuclear weapon”. “Look at Iran’s aggression today, without a nuclear weapon. What a huge danger Iran would be to the entire world if it did get a nuclear weapon”, Netanyahu argued.
