U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Gallant, “discussed the range of Iran-backed threats to regional security and stability and agreed to continue working together to counter these threats”. The following day, Gallant met the commander of CENTCOM and, according to an Israeli readout, conferred on “progress in the security-military coordination between Israel and the U.S. to prevent military nuclear weapons from Iran” and “the security challenges in the region, focusing on Iranian terrorist activity throughout the Middle East, including funding, training and the transfer of weapons to terrorist organisations in Syria and in Lebanon”.
