U.S. Secretary of Defense Esper met with his Israeli counterpart, Naftali Bennett, in Washington. According to the Pentagon, “the two discussed a broad range of defence-related issues to include regional threats, shared interests, and the importance of maintaining a strong military-to-military partnership moving forward”. Bennett indicated that he and Esper “spoke at length about the regional threats, Iranian aggression and its expulsion from Syria”, adding that he had “emphasised that the State of Israel will act firmly against Iran’s activities for the sake of Israel’s security and thanked him [ie, Esper] for U.S. support and assistance”.
