The Israeli military announced that “the launch of a surface-to-surface missile toward Israeli territory was identified and successfully intercepted in the area of the Red Sea… the target did not cross into Israeli territory”. An Israeli military spokesperson contended that “this terrorist activity is Houthi terror activity. It is regional terrorism - directed, funded, and orchestrated by Iran. It is a global problem - affecting all parts of the region”. The Houthis claimed to have launched “a batch of ballistic missiles at military targets” in Israel, reiterating that they would continue “to carry out their military operations against the Israeli enemy, as well as implementing the decision to prevent Israeli ships from sailing in the Arab and Red Seas in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and until the aggression against Gaza stops”. The same day, a U.S. official confirmed that “the USS Mason shot down an uncrewed aerial vehicle originating from Houthi controlled areas of Yemen… in the southern Red Sea”; no damage or injury was reported.
