Secretary of State Antony Blinken conferred with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on, inter alia, “challenges posed by Iran”. Blinken emphasised that “Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon”, and reaffirmed the U.S.’s “ironclad commitment to Israel’s security”. In turn, Lapid asserted that “the nuclear agreement which stands to be signed in Vienna is a bad and ineffective agreement… Israel isn’t obliged by it, and reserves the freedom to act in any way against the Iranian nuclear program”.
