A Huthi military spokesperson announced that they had “targeted… warplanes hangars at Saudi Abha International Airport” using four drones. The Saudi-led coalition confirmed an attack and damage to a civilian aircraft, while reporting the downing of two Huthi “bomb-laden UAVs” bound for Saudi Arabia. The U.S. State Department responded to the incident by saying that “Huthi leaders will find themselves sorely mistaken if they think this administration is going to let up the pressure… They will come under significant pressure”. The following day, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken “condemned the Huthi attacks” and spoke with his Saudi counterpart about “joint efforts to bolster Saudi defences against attacks on the Kingdom”. The two sides also discussed “diplomatic outreach to find a negotiated political settlement to the war in Yemen”.
