CENTCOM commander Joseph Votel remarked that "the conflict in Yemen opened opportunities for Iran, which continues to provide support to the Huthis aimed at building a proxy force designed to pressure the Saudi-led coalition and expand Iranian regional influence. This support enables Huthis to launch missiles at its neighbours and target ships in the Bab al-Mandab and Red Sea; threatening Americans and our partners and raising the risk of broader regional conflict".
