Commenting on Iranian fuel shipments to Venezuela, the U.S. Special Representative for Iran and Venezuela, Elliott Abrams, maintained that “what we have done first is to make sure that no one else will touch this trade… We managed to persuade some Greek ship owners to get out of the Iran-Venezuela trade”. “It’s only Iran” sending gasoline to Caracas, Abrams added. “The Iranian sales, which are done for gold… really are not capable of having a significant impact on the Venezuelan economy, so I wouldn’t exaggerate them”.
