Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid met National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and conferred on “broad security issues, primarily the Iranian threat”. According to a spokesperson, Lapid discussed “Israel’s concern regarding the Iranian race for nuclear capability and the fact that Iran is becoming a nuclear threshold state”, while highlighting “the need for an alternate plan to the nuclear agreement”. According to a U.S. readout, Sullivan reiterated the U.S. “commitment to ensuring that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon” and the two “agreed that the U.S. and Israel will continue to consult closely on Iran and other critical matters impacting the security and stability of the region”.
