A Pentagon spokesperson reported that there had been 55 attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria since mid-October, resulting in 59 injuries. She further assessed that the IRGC “supports, arms, equips, funds, trains these groups [attacking U.S. troops]. So, they do maintain some level of accountability over these groups”. “Some of these militias, of course… carry out their own attacks, maybe not necessarily running it up all through their command-and-control nodes but we know that Iran certainly has a role to play with these groups”, the official added.
