Reacting to the most recent IAEA report on Iran’s JCPOA compliance, the U.S. envoy to the agency told the Board of Governors that “upholding the safeguards regime requires all state to comply with their safeguards obligations… Iran’s failure to resolve these concerns [raised by the agency], after almost two years of engagement, is absolutely unacceptable”. She further contended that “Iran’s [nuclear] actions are transparent attempts at extortion. We have made clear they will neither resolve the current impasse nor bring Iran sanctions relief. It would be a mistake to reward such tactics with economic appeasement”.
