The U.S. designated the Huthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) entity; three Huthi leaders were also individually designated as SDGTs. The Treasury Department also issued four licenses “to facilitate the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian assistance and certain other critical commodities to the people of Yemen”. Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the decision, saying it “would aggravate the most catastrophic humanitarian crisis in the current century and obstruct the course of ongoing efforts for the political settlement of Yemen’s crisis”.
