Defence Minister Benny Gantz met with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, underscoring “the importance of acting decisively against Iran’s regional aggression and strengthening our regional coalition under U.S. leadership”. According to a U.S. readout, the two conferred on, inter alia, the U.S.’s “commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and addressing Iran’s destabilising actions throughout the region”. Austin also praised “Israel’s deepening relationships with countries across the region and the increasing opportunities for military-to-military cooperation enabled by Israel’s transition into the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility”. Gantz held a separate meeting with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
