The secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, delivered a major address entitled "Supporting Iranian Voices". Pompeo's remarks focused on exposing alleged corruption within the Iranian elite, and underscored U.S. efforts "to put maximum pressure on the regime's ability to generate and move money". He added that "I have a message for the people of Iran: the U.S. hears you; the U.S. supports you; the U.S. is with you".
