A senior U.S. military official assessed that after the killing of Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s IRGC Quds Force, “what we’re really looking at is what level of control are the successors of Soleimani, the people who are running the Iranian threat network, able to exert over those proxy forces that they’ve had across Iraq and Syria?” “It’s a little too early to tell at the tactical level, exactly how that’ll play out”, the official explained. “I suspect it’ll degrade their operations in some way, it may desynchronise their operations, it may cause them to act more independently. But we just don't know yet”.
