The U.S. State Department reported that between 24-26 July, the Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, “traveled to Tunisia, Qatar and Kuwait to discuss extending the UN arms embargo on Iran, which is scheduled to expire on October 18, 2020”. Reacting to Hook’s travels, a senior Iranian diplomat indicated: “our message to the countries of the region and the world is that do not to be deceived by the U.S… The Americans are well aware that Iran is a rational player and has never been a security threat to the countries in the region”.
