Secretary of State Anthony Blinken reiterated that “even as we negotiated that agreement [ie, the JCPOA] and even as concluded it, we made very clear that we would continue to take action as necessary against Iranian activities in other areas that we found objectionable… And that’s exactly what we continue to do”. “These things are not at all inconsistent”, Blinken emphasised. “It’s important that we deal wherever we can as effectively we can to any of the challenges posed by Iranian actions, and we were able to do that with regard to the nuclear program while at the same time continuing to stand strongly against actions in other areas”.
