Referring to Foreign Minister Javad Zarif’s visit to the U.S. earlier in the month, Secretary of State Pompeo remarked that “the American media decided to give him a megaphone to talk about things that are untrue going on in the Islamic Republic of Iran and gave him a chance to lie vociferously to the American people. I look forward to the chance to speak to the Iranian people in that same way, but truthfully”. Pompeo added that “we are trying to reduce their resources to conduct terror campaigns all around the world, build out their missile systems and their nuclear program, and we’ve been incredibly effective at that”.
