The U.S. special representative for Iran, Brian Hook, revealed what he described as "new evidence of Iran's ongoing missile proliferation" and weapons purportedly provided by Iran to various regional proxies. "The new weapons we are disclosing today illustrate the scale of Iran's destructive role across the region", he argued, adding that "Tehran is intent on increasing the lethality and reach of these weapons to deepen its presence throughout the region". "We are one missile attack away from a regional conflict", Hook warned, going on to assert that "during the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal, Iran has expanded its threats to peace and security in almost every category... our policy in the Middle East is to reverse the balance of power in favour of our friends and our partners".
