The U.S. sanctioned “two key Hizbollah financiers operating in Guinea” with the Treasury Department saying “this action is aimed at disrupting Hizbollah’s business network in West Africa”. The State Department contended that “Hizbollah has developed a global network of financiers, supporters, donors and facilitators, enabling the group to constantly threaten the security, stability and prosperity of Lebanon and the broader region… The U.S. will continue to expose individuals such as those designated today who support Hizbollah’s destabilising activities”.
