Responding to a question about the idea of a U.S.-Iran military hotline, the commander of U.S. Central Command, Joseph Votel, noted that "the Iranian can talk to the Russians. We have a well-established professional communication channel with the Russians that has worked well... so I think that there is something available that they could use right now".
