Secretary of Defense Mark Esper reiterated that “we also face continued threats from rogue states like Iran… that require our constant – constant vigilance”. He added that “our recent actions against the Iranian regime, for example, restored deterrence in the region and sent the message that the U.S. will not stand idly by when our troops and interests are threatened”.
