During a visit to Israel, the U.S. Special Representative for Iran, Elliot Abrams, underscored that “if the pressure the U.S. has because of the success of the sanctions campaign is utilised, the Iranians are in a situation in which they really need these sanctions lifted”, adding that “if we demand changes in their conduct... the Iranians will have no choice. They will have to make significant changes in their behaviour”. He also acknowledged that under a Biden administration “legally, it is correct that a president has the right to reverse any executive act that he took or that a previous president took. Whether it is advisable and politically possible is a different question”. “The U.S. believes Israel will act responsibly to protects its national security”, Abrams also indicated.
