Crisis Group now Accepts Cryptocurrency Donations

The International Crisis Group is excited to announce that it has started accepting donations in the following cryptocurrencies:

  • Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Amp (AMP), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), ChainLink (LINK), Dai (DAI), Dogecoin (DOGE), The Graph (GRT), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Litecoin (LTC), Storj (STORJ), UMA (UMA), Zcash (ZEC), 0x (ZRX) and 1inch (1INCH) and more!

With more than 220 million crypto users worldwide and the value of many cryptocurrencies rising, the crypto community is in a position to make a wide-reaching impact through philanthropy. By accepting cryptocurrencies, Crisis Group is offering supporters one of the most tax-efficient ways for individuals to give. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service classifies cryptocurrency donations as property, meaning they are not subject to capital gains tax and are tax-deductible on the donor's tax returns.

“I am very excited for Crisis Group to begin accepting cryptocurrency”, said Crisis Group’s Chief Development Officer Amanda Weingarten. “With this new giving vehicle, we can expand our donor demographic. Many crypto holders are under 40 and 40 per cent are women or people of color. We at Crisis Group are always looking for ways to reach our supporters wherever they may be”.

The International Crisis Group will be working with The Giving Block, leaders in equipping nonprofits with the tools and techniques to effectively fundraise with cryptocurrency.
