In this role, he oversees field research mainly in Somalia, Mozambique, Kenya and Zimbabwe, and makes accurate and timely recommendations to prevent and mitigate conflict in the region. He joined Crisis Group in 2020 as Senior Communications Officer for Africa. Professional Background Prior to joining Crisis Group, Nicolas worked for more than ten years as a correspondent for Agence France-Presse. He started his career covering international justice, following high-profile cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) or the Special Court for Sierra Leone (SCSL). He then moved to East Africa, where he reported on Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Somalia, among others. Nicolas holds a Master’s degree in Journalism, and another in English and Hispanic Literature, both from the University of Liège in Belgium.
