Following reports of an assassination plot against an Israeli businessman in Cyprus, Prime Minister Nafatali Bennett’s office stated “on behalf of the security establishment, that this was an act of terror that was orchestrated by Iran”, adding: “this was not a criminal act and the Israeli businessman Teddy Sagi was not the target of the attack”. The Iranian government dismissed the story as “a baseless allegation”. Relatedly, Defence Minister Benny Gantz asserted that “Iran continues to be a global and regional threat, as well as a challenge to Israel, and we will continue to operate in order to protect our citizens and the State of Israel anywhere from any threat”. “We will lay our hands on anyone who tried to harm us”, Gantz warned. “We will act to prevent such incidents”.
