Strengthening Early Warning, Mobilising Early Action

Brussels, Belgium

17 June 2016

Drawing on three years of field research and engagement with decision-makers, our Strengthening Early Warning and Mobilising Early Action project concludes with a public discussion on Friday 17 June in Brussels. The project has been managed by Crisis Group and the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO), and co-funded by the European Union.

The event will offer the opportunity to:

  1. Identify lessons learned, challenges and opportunities in the field of early warning and early action in an increasingly fragmented yet interconnected world;

  2. Discuss the role of different actors in early warning, including the EU, civil society and regional organisations, as well as the state of play of early warning systems in Europe;

  3. Discuss how to collectively narrow the distance between early warning and early action.

Speakers and participants include Crisis Group’s President and senior experts, EPLO’s Executive Director, EU and Member States representatives, as well as civil society experts.
