Fighters for Peace: The Struggle of Latin America’s Women Activists

Latin America is a dangerous place to defend the cause of peace, particularly in the case of women activists, who face sexist hostility and threats. Despite the dangers, many women tenaciously lead the struggle for justice and human rights in the region.

In this video, three community leaders give a sense of the difficult road they travel: Lucia Díaz, Director of Solecito Veracruz, a campaign group for families of missing people in Mexico; Erlendy Cuero, Vice-President of the National Association of Displaced Afro-descendants in Colombia; and Yolima Arellano, who campaigns against gender violence in Venezuela.
