With JCPOA talks underway in Vienna, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid underscored to the French president that “Iran is trying to buy time in order to move forward with its nuclear program, on the immediate need for the strengthening of sanctions by the powers, and on the urgent need for a Plan B”. “Sanctions on Iran must not be lifted”, Lapid emphasised. “Sanctions need to be tightened, there needs to be a credible military threat on Iran. Because only this will stop it from continuing its race to a nuclear weapon”.
