As Senior Adviser for Crisis Group’s Sahel Project, Ibrahim conducts field research, provides written analysis and proposes policy recommendations. He also helps coordinate the Sahel Project's advocacy efforts in the region

Professional Background

Before joining Crisis Group, Ibrahim was the Sahel Regional Representative at the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD). He also served as special advisor to the prime minister of Mali, during which time he was responsible for security, governance and political reforms. From 2015 to 2020, he successively held the positions of researcher, senior researcher and representative for the Sahel at the Institute for Security Studies' regional office for West Africa, the Sahel and the Lake Chad Basin. Ibrahim holds a Master’s degree in International and Transnational Law from Laval University in Canada.
