Professional Background Jonas has fourteen years’ policy, programs and research experience in conflict management, stabilisation and small arms and light weapons in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific with UN agencies, the EU, NGOs and research organisations. In Sudan, he worked as Technical Adviser on Politics, Stabilisation and Peacebuilding to the EU for four years and ran UNDP’s Conflict Reduction Programme in the country’s Three Areas along the border with South Sudan ahead of the countries’ 2011 split. Previously he worked as Africa Analyst to political risk firm Eurasia Group. Most recently he served as Coordinator of the UN’s Task Team on Conflict Prevention and Regional Conflict Adviser to Mercy Corps in the Middle East.
