The U.S. designated “nine entities across multiple jurisdictions that have played a critical role in the production, sale and shipment of hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of Iranian petrochemicals and petroleum to buyers in Asia”. The State Department asserted that the move “demonstrates our continued efforts to enforce U.S. sanctions on Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical trade and disrupt Iran’s efforts to circumvent sanctions”.
