Chiara Biscaldi joined Crisis Group in May 2010. As the Head of External Relations with the EU, Chiara is responsible for designing, implementing and initiating targeted advocacy strategies to the European Union (EU) and EU member states on conflicts covered by Crisis Group. She also conducts research on EU policies and institutional developments related to conflict prevention and resolution.

Professional Background

Before joining Crisis Group, Chiara worked as Policy Officer at EPLO focusing on EU developments. She has extensive experience working for international organisations, including the World Organisation Against Torture, the European Parliament, Human Rights Watch, the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the UN Trust Fund for Victims of Torture. Chiara also served in Livno, Bosnia-Herzegovina, for the OSCE Department of Human Rights.

Chiara holds a Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a Master of Arts in Political Science and Theory and Practice of Human Rights from the University of Essex. She also holds a Degree in Political Science with a specialisation in international politics from the University of Pavia (110/110 cum laude).
