He undertakes research and analysis on Islamist militancy across regions in collaboration with regional and country analysts. The program on Jihad in Modern Conflict provides an understanding of the local, regional and international trends affecting jihadist groups worldwide and the prospects of conflict resolution including through negotiations and engagement with militants. Professional Background Jerome received his PhD from Durham University. He previously held research fellowships at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, the University of Oxford and the University of Manchester. He joined Crisis Group from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), where he was Adviser for Non-State Armed Groups. Jerome is particularly interested in armed groups’ trajectories in armed conflicts, which he has researched extensively in both Egypt and Syria.
