Professional Background

Basharat worked as an international opinion editor at The New York Times. He has been an editor at Foreign Affairs, edited The New York Times’ India Ink blog, and has written for The New Yorker, Granta, Foreign Affairs, The Guardian, n+1 and The New York Times. His memoir, Curfewed Night, won India’s Crossword Award for Non-Fiction and was chosen as a Book of the Year by both The New Yorker and The Economist
