Crisis Group Role

As Senior Research Analyst in the Early Warning & Research team, Danny undertakes research, editing and writing to produce Crisis Group’s flagship early warning tool and conflict tracker CrisisWatch. Established in 2003, the monthly publication assesses over 70 conflicts and crises worldwide and alerts policymakers to the risks of escalation and opportunities to advance peace.

Danny also plays a central role in the team’s Horizon Scanning workstream. Capitalising on CrisisWatch data and the insights of Crisis Group experts, the Early Warning & Research team creates original briefings aimed at forecasting conflict risks in the coming months. Additionally, Danny helps to write and produce the quarterly publication On the Horizon, which offers a snapshot into some of those emergent conflicts and crises. Finally, Danny helps oversee global research queries on deadly conflicts and crises in close liaison with experts from across the organisation.

Danny joined Crisis Group in September 2016 as a member of the Communications & Outreach team in Brussels. As Communications Officer, he assisted the drafting, editing and publishing of a range of Crisis Group outputs, the creation and implementation of strategies to promote new research and reports, and was tasked with expanding Crisis Group’s relationships with international news and media outlets. Prior to that, he also gained research experience at non-governmental organisations in the UK.

Danny holds an MA in International Studies & Diplomacy from SOAS, University of London, as well as a First Class Honours BA in International History & Politics from the University of Leeds.
