Each day nearly 45,000 people are forced to flee their homes, the vast majority because of deadly conflicts. Most are fleeing wars in Afghanistan, South Sudan and Syria, just three of the 55 countries where Crisis Group works to prevent, mitigate and end conflict and the human suffering it brings. As we head into 2019, we will intensify our coverage of both Yemen and Afghanistan, two crises where real opportunities for peace contend with horrific battlefield realities.
Double the impact of your investment.*
- In Yemen, Crisis Group engages behind the scenes with all front-line actors of the war, advocating for renewed diplomatic efforts to avoid famine and pushing for ways to keep the vital port of Hodeida open.
- In Afghanistan, 2018’s deadliest conflict, Crisis Group encourages direct contact between the government and Taliban insurgents. The Afghan parliament’s foreign relations committee recently said our “recommendations could lead to kick-starting talks for ending the war”.
Our work would not be possible without your support. *Thanks to a generous gift from the Open Society Foundations, your donation to International Crisis Group will be matched through 31 December.
